Chris Rock files for divorce

On Behalf of | Jan 5, 2015 | Divorce |

Sometimes when couples divorce, it can seem like divorce was always inevitable in hindsight. Couples who were always fighting or who never seemed to enjoy doing things together generally do not surprise anyone when they divorce. Nor is it terribly surprising when couples who were only together for a few months or years divorce. However, some divorces truly do seem like surprises, and even marriages that lasted for years can suddenly end in divorce.

Comedian and actor Chris Rock has filed for a divorce after nearly two decades of marriage. His representative stated that the matter was personal, and that the actor would like to keep the issue private as he and his family work through it. Both parents seem to be focused primarily on the well-being of their children, which is comforting as the process moves along, but the split no doubt still comes as a shock to many.

This just goes to show that there are few ways to predict divorce, and even marriages that last for years can suddenly end in divorce. It is important to remember, however, that divorce is not an admission of failure, nor is it a bad thing. Divorce is simply a way for a couple who no longer find happiness in their relationship to start anew.

If you are in a marriage that no longer makes you happy, then perhaps divorce is something you should consider. You may be concerned about how much time you can spend with your children or how your assets will be divided, but you should know that Texas courts will be as fair as they can with the information they are presented. With the help of an attorney, you can present a case that ensures you will get what you deserve following a divorce.
