What can I get out of a consultation?

The attorneys here at the Law Office of Lisa Vance consider our relationships with our clients to be of the highest importance. I see my first meeting with each client to be important for many reasons, but one of the most crucial is that it gives both of us a chance to develop the level of comfort necessary for the difficult process ahead.

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of a confident and comfortable relationship with your attorney. A large part of that first meeting is a feeling out process to make sure that your attorney will be a good fit for you, but also that you are a good fit for your attorney. It should go without saying that you want to be at ease with the person representing you in any family matter, but that doesn’t always happen. And when it doesn’t, it can be an obstacle to both you and your attorney.

The legal process is about transparency between client and lawyer, and that starts with our first meeting. I go into all my consultations with the same mindset: it is my privilege to advocate for you and to protect you in a competent and ethical manner.

To represent you, I’ll need to know what’s happened in your life, the good and the bad, the successes and the mistakes. Some actions are hard to admit, but failing to share this information with your attorney creates a huge obstacle. The more I know about your case, and the earlier that I know it in the process, the better able I am to help you achieve your goals.

Any legal matter involving family is difficult. There are simply no two ways about it. And our conversations will require some uncomfortable disclosures, or what might be considered “dirty laundry.” We know how sensitive the subject matter can be, but our discussions must be as frank as possible.

A priority of ours at The Law Office of Lisa A. Vance, P.C. is to create an environment where our clients feel safe to talk about tough issues. For us, creating this environment begins with our commitment to the confidential nature of our discussions.Frankly, we’ve heard many difficult revelations in our time doing family law, and we’re mindful of how tough it can be for people to share these. We listen, as your advocates, with understanding and acceptance. After all, we’ve all made mistakes – you’ll find that we will not judge yours any more than we would want anyone to judge ours.

One thing to know about our office is that we honor the attorney-client privilege in our interactions with you, beginning with the first consultation. Beyond that, your attorney-client privilege is preserved regardless of whether you proceed forward with me, select another attorney in our firm, or look for representation elsewhere.

The comfort and success of our clients is important to us. We encourage you to take the first step and learn if our office is the right fit for you. We welcome the chance to help you navigate a difficult situation. Every meeting is an opportunity and any assistance we can provide is our privilege.
